Notes |
- WW I Draft Registration Card June 5, 1917 lists him as living at Bordell Ave, Mystic, CT working as a gardner and jobbing around in Mystic. He is described as of medium stature, slender, with grey eyes and brown hair. He served in the Merchant Marine during WWI.
He came to the United States in 1907, living with family in Brooklyn prior to moving to Mystic in 1914. He worked at Seasled Corp for 35 years managing the Paint Shop, and after retirement in 1960 worked at Mystic Seaport for 12 years.
An avid woodworker, he and Lydia ran the Loft Antique Shop at their home 90 Mistuxet Avenue, and George refinished antiques and built unique specialty items for sale at the shop, for his own amusement, and for the Mystic Congregational Church gift shop.
He was a member of the Mystic Encampment, International Order of Odd Fellows, and the Quiambaug Volunteer Fire Department. [3]
