James Granger, 1850, Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY
Status: Located; One of New York’s most notorious industrial accidents was the Hague Street Calamity of 1850, where more than sixty men and boys were killed in a boiler explosion that demolished two buildings. James Granger, was among the fatalities; one of several whose remains took two days to identify. Only twenty-five years-old at the time, he left a wife and two young children.

Walter Tuers created a mini-float honoring Jane Van Reypen Toers, bringing to the public's attention her heroic contribution to exposing the treason of Benedict Arnold and her dedication to feeding the patriot POW's of the British in New Yor. Walter's float received the "Best Mini Float" award.

Status: Located; Ryanier Tuers, from New Jersey, was an early pioneer in Colorado Territory. His was one of the earliest family names we found, but we know little about him. We tracked down his wife's gravesite during a family trip a few years ago.

John Burdef's Blacksmith Shop, Pearl River, NY
Status: Located; John H. Burdef was known as the best blacksmith in Pearl River. He began his business in 1889 in a two-story framed building, at the age of 28. In 1924, Burdef built a new one-story blacksmiths shop. He continued his business until his death in 1946. The business was then taken over by Lee Shaffer, who continued it as a welding shop for ten years.

John Henry Goodman emigrated to Canada/USA in 1910 aboard the SS Tunisia, Ernie Goodman emigrated aboard the SS Commonwealth to Australia in 1914, and Joe Goodman emigrated to Australia aboard the SS Asturias in 1949. The rest of the family remained in England. Albert's daughter, Barbara Goodman, is a significant contributor to the family genealogy in England and Australia.
