The specific site of Lawrence Toers homestead was described in the September 1972 edition of Relics Newsletter published by the Pascack Valley Historical Society

The sandstone house was the original residence of Lawrence Tuers, the first of the family in the Woodcliff Lake area, who was living here by 1756 and one of the owners through whose land Werimus Road was laid in 1760. He was taxed for a farm of 139 acres. When he died in 1803, the homestead and south third of the land were devised to his son Arie who also resided there until his death. Arie was killed by a wagon wheel on January 20, 1826, survived by his widow and a son named Lawrence. After the latter’s death, a court division granted the homestead and 7 ½ acres to Lawrence’s oldest son Aaron.
