    • 1880 Census, Newark, Essex, NJ lists W. George Saul, age 16, as son of George Saul, age 69, born Prussia and wife Bertha, age 39, born Hamburg. George W. Saul was apprentice to a cigar maker at the time, and George was listed as a book seller. Judging by the other listings on the page, the family was living among other German immigrant families in Newark.
