  • Notes
    • We are basing our connection for this family on the location, Aquackanonk, and occupation, Shoemaker, being the same for John in the 1850 and 1860 census, although his marital/family status changed.

In 1860 John has taken David Bogart as an Apprentice Shoemaker

He was registered as Class III subject to military duty the Civil War during June 1863, listed as John Tuers, Jr.

Civil War veteran’s records note his burial place as Tuers, John Jr. X 25th K Sergeant 15 Nov 1907 Riverside Hennepin Putnam IL

There is no further record found for this family in New Jersey, but the 1880 Census, Hennepin, Putnam, Illinois 1 Jun 1880 lists
John Tures, age 52, laborer, born New Jersey
Rebecca, age 39, born abt 1841, New Jersey
Annie, daughter, age 15 born abt 1865, New Jersey
Eddie, son, age 13, born abt1867, Illinois
John H., son born abt 1874, Illinois
George W, son, age 3, born, Illinois

John H Tures appears in the 1930 Census with father born New Jersey. Further research is needed to confirm this line. [1, 2]
