    • Family history by Robert Granger, Sr., confirmed by SSDI and family records. There is the name William Brauch on the headstone of Robert and Elizabeth. Robert Granger III explains it:

When Robert Sr. passed suddenly in 1935 there was no money to purchase a plot.  Mrs. Brauch, a neighbor of Mary Schaum (mother of Elizabeth) gave her husbands plot to Elizabeth.  Mrs. Brauch's family had a large plot and she chose to be buried with them.  When Elizabeth died in 1946 my father had the head stone cut the family decided to honor Mr. Brauch and make sure that he was remembered.

In a similar case Charles Schaum (father of Elizabeth) and Genevieve (2yr. old daughter of Elizabeth) are also buried in Lutheran cemetery (now All Faiths) in a plot that was purchased by Otto Klauhammer in 1892.  There is no headstone on this plot I have the deed.  Klauhammer arrived in this country in 1883 and married in 1889.  I find no connection of any kind on this one.  One mystery solved another not so much.

I have reason to believe that Mary Schaum and at least one of her daughters are also in Lutheran.  I have to get there and check with the office.

I also found Harriet Granger (sister of Thomas).  She married John Thomas Shearer and lived out her life in Brooklyn and Queens.  I will forward a family group sheet when I can.
