    • Research done by Norfolk genealogist, Gill Blanchard, at the behest of Everett Granger 2009 notes birth record as:

      Shelfanger Parish Records: Bastardy Orders 1735-1829 (PD 80/55) - Granger
      Abstract 
      Norfolk To Wit.
      The Order of George LEE Esquire and William MANNING Clerk two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County, one whereof is the Quorum, and both residing next unto the Limits of the Parish Church within the Parish of Shelfanger in the said County of Norfolk made the Ninth Day of June 1823 concerning a male Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of Shelfanger aforesaid of the body of Louisa BARKER alias PARKER Widow
      On the Twentieth of March 1822 she was delivered of a male Bastard Child likely to become chargeable to Shelfanger
      That John GRANGER of Shelfanger Bricklayer did beget the said Bastard Child on the Body of her
      John GRANGER to pay Six Shillings for the reasonable costs of apprehension One Shilling and Sixpence weekly for Maintenance
      (This child was Ephraim)

      Ephraim Granger was a Civil War veteran, serving in the same 139th Infantry Regiment as George Mowbray Granger
