    • According to the entry in Charity Ackerman's Diary, Garret Tuers, of Chestnut Ridge, fell and broke his neck. He died leaving a wife and child [with another born shortly after his death].

      Martha Ann Zabriskie, in her Memorandum Book recorded: 4 Dec 1839 "Garrit Teurce was killed by accident, he was found on the road under the cars at Chestnut Ridge."
